10/26 Scenic Day – Cape Point / Cape of Good Hope

Today is a scenic tour of the South end of South Africa, namely Cape Point and Cape of Good Hope. Our route takes us form Cape Town south through the center of South Africa stopping at Simonstown to walk with the Penguins on Boulders Beach. Interesting creatures settling here and seem right at home with the tourist attraction. From there we went to lunch a beautiful coastal restaurant, “Black Marlin”, great food and fabulous view. My friends from Wisconsin, compare to Door County, only this is 10 fold better. Just my opinion.

Then onto Cape Point and a ride on the “Flying Dutchman” funicular, (small rail car) to the top for a spectacular view of the old and new lighthouses. Great view of Cape Point, ie; competing with Cape Good Hope as the furthest point South West on the African continent. Our final stop of the day was Cape Good Hope, and this area harbors wildlife of Ostrich, Baboons, Moutain Zebra, and Bontebok. Ostrich we saw.

Waterfront dinning for supper at Belthazar. More food than we could eat. Tomorrow, last day in Cape Town, more Winelands tour and a relaxing afternoon.
