Travel Update: November, 2023

11/8  Wed Travel to Victoria

After a lovely evening dinner and stay at the Johannesburg International Airport Hotel, we have a very nice early morning breakfast in preparation for our flight to Victoria.  Small plane, about 50 people prox.  We will be moving into warmer temperatures ie; 25-30 deg Celsius to 30-35, so in Fahrenheit like mid 70’s to Mid 90’s.  Actually 98 when we arrived.

Flight was about 1-1/2 hr entering the country of Zimbabwe.  So some customs / passport clearance, a little inconvenience, but no big problem.  Actually, we will be boarding on four countries, ability to travel to each in a day if you would like, ie; Zimbabwe, Zambia, Botswana, and Namibia.  We will be staying at the Victoria Falls Hotel for the next two nights.

Upon arrival, we head directly to a planned sunset boat cruise on the Zambezi River, a boarder river between Zimbabwe and Zambia.  Pure Africa Waterfront Cruises. We have a private deck with open bar and snacks.  Awesome boat !   We  are a group of 21-22, so by now we know everyone’s name, so we have become a very congenial group.

Anyway, an awesome river cruise.  Sightings include Elephants, Rhinos, Gators, all in the water for their evening cooling.  Incredible sight.  These animals are in the wild, while protected  by National Park status, they are free to roam.  Swimming not recommended.

After the cruise, we are directed to a magnificent outside dinner menu with a full compliment of entertainment.  Our choice was Ostrich, fantastic, very much like a tenderloin steak.

Completing our dinner we were directed to our rooms, all tired from  full day.  Tomorrow, an early start at 8:00am. Victoria Falls, here we come.
