Mar 15, Blue Mountains National Park and Ayers Rock
Hi All: Mar 15 -18
Early AM departure for the Blue Mountains National Park. In route, stopping at the Featherdale Wildlife Park housing a variety of Australia wildlife. Then our motor coach took us to the Blue Mountains where we experienced a host of experiences including a Scenic Railway Ride through the ancient rain forest, awesome scenery, water falls and views. Ride the cable car down a historic coal mine shaft, then onto a Sky Platform for an aerial Cable Car ride some 900 ft above Jamison Valley. Awesome adventure and views!
Leaving the park the next day we head to Ayers Rock. A spectacular area in the “Outback” noted for its spectacular Star Filled Sky and 50,000 glass spheres illuminated at darkness. This all under a sun set outside dinner experience with narration by an astronomer and a performance by the sounds of the didgeridoo. Unfortunately, the weather took a bit of the experience unfavorably as we were greeted with winds and clouds for most of the event.
The next day we experienced the sunrise over the Uluru, worlds largest monolith, sacred and special significance to the Aboriginal Anangu People. Very sacred grounds and caves, values going back some 35,000 years. Traditions held very special and displayed in all their art. Striking colors and artifacts.
We were allowed to hike into very sacred areas and caves, but with respect.
Leaving Ayers Rock, we head for Melbourne by flight, so a travel day.
