10/30 Elephant Sanctuary
What a wonderful day. As we approach oHtrue Safari Game Drives, we engage in an Elephant Sanctuary, and learn a great deal about the Elephant and some Baboon’s visited us. This experience was Awesome !!
Anyway, only a half day today with the PM an opportunity to rest or do whatever. Tomorrow, we head to our first Game Reserve, ie; “Shamwari” Private Game Reserve.
Haven’t talked about the currency in South Africa. It is the Rand, sometime referred to as ZAR. Exchanges much like the Peso in Mexico, about 20 to 1. Locals do not take American money. So we have been using credit card for purchases. Looking at prices, move the decimal point one spot left and divide by 2 gets you close. Ie; R 2,000.00 convert to US, 200.0 div by 2 = $100.00.
Also, South Africa challenged with Electricity “Load Shedding”. Means at times power outages. Most have generators, but still a problem. We had one on 10/31.
