October 10 – 11, New York City
Well, our last Blog update for this trip. Leaving the ship, we spent two days in New York city touring. Our stay was at Essex Marriot right across from Central Park on 59th Street. Tour we did. Our way in on the ship we saw a Whale in the New York Harbor. To quick to get a picture. He came up, Blew is Blow Hole, and dove right down . I was right up on the bow, so saw first. Awesome!! Coming into New York harbor at dusk was incredible.
Anyway, tour started at 9:00am and lasted 6 hours. She was a “walking encyclopedia”. Her name was Julia Ryan. Native New Yorker, and her parent’s, Irish Immigrants. She knew Bldg’s, dates, history, people, you name it.
Here is a sample of what we saw: 911 Memorial, Freedom Tower, Oculus Rail Center ($4 billion project), Grand Central Station, Rockefeller Center, UN Bldg Head Quarters, Time Square, Central Park, Trump Tower, Brooklyn Bridge, Wall Street, 5th Ave, China Town, Little Italy, NBC News, and more.
The last afternoon was spent on a two hour “Pedi Bike Tour” of Central Park. Pretty cool. The park is clean and well used.
Well, Obviously I have more pictures than I can post here. I think I burned my camera out. Trip was wonderful. Thanks to Paula and Richard Truelove for putting together a fantastic agenda.
Home tomorrow !!
