Mar 28, Kiwi Hatchery, Maori People, Thermal Spa, Queenstown & Te Anau.
Hi All: Mar 28 -29
The Kiwi is the National icon of New Zealand. An endangered species is being protected and part of a recovery program at the National Kiwi Hatchery Aotearoa. A flightless bird. Toured the facility. No hatching today.
Eggs are the equivalent of a human carrying a 35 lb baby.
A treat for the afternoon. An optional tour event, Natural thermal Spas.
Taking a dip in the warm water, very relaxing.
The evening concluded with a meeting of the Maori People and ceremonial rituals of dance and song. Closed with a 4 course fusion feast dinner.
Next, fly to Queenstown. Then motor coach the eastern shores of Lake Wakatipu. Beautiful countryside, sheep, cattle, deer. Gateway to the Fiordland National Park. Overnight on the shores of Lake Te Anau.
